Countdown To Goodbye, Waving To Hello

This week’s track was done in a hurry in Band in A Box and recorded late at night in FL Studio. Ergo, the vocals and mix will definitely be redone before I share it with an audience wider than the people with which I usually share this. This track was inspired by two things: “Prayer in C” by Lilly Wood and the Prick (Robin Shultz remix) and the shuttering of perhaps the most rambunctious, riotous, righteous and rewarding social network that ever existed on the internet: FriendFeed.

Here are the lyrics. I promise I will do a better job on them very soon. Feedback, as always, is appreciated.

We got the notice the bar is closing
Sorry to see it on the wall
So we’re bringing a party with us
Going out with a bang on it all

There were eight full years of good times
Every love, every crack, every bow
We placed our names in these moments
Which we celebrate here and now

Chorus: In this countdown to goodbye
waving to hello
You know we’ll meet again some day
In all the other places we know
In this countdown to goodbye
waving to hello
It won’t be the same, but it will be
In all the other places we know

Pour some out for the rent parties
And the Friday night groove parades
And pour a few out for the secrets
That the house held in spades

Say a toast to the revolutions
Every one watched and how
We placed our names in these moments
Which we celebrate here and now

Chorus

So, we stand here, our glasses in tears
As the final lights go out
Sure there are other places in town
but they would never get what we’re about

There were eight full years of good times
Every love, every crack, every bow
We placed our names in these moments
Which we celebrate here and now
